As a way of marking the 40th year since our graduation, the San Angelo Central High School Class of 1965 established a scholarship fund through the San Angelo Area Foundation in 2005.
This was the first graduating-class scholarship created at the Area Foundation and serves as permanent testimony of our gratitude for the part Central and our fellow classmates played in our journeys in life.
The SACHS Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund grants scholarships to Central graduates enrolled in any accredited college, university, or trade school. At the recommendation of high school counselors, the scholarship provides funds each semester a recipient remains in school and maintains grades.
This is a permanent scholarship. Funds donated to the scholarship are never spent; only the earnings from the fund are used for scholarships. In January 2007, the corpus of our scholarship fund was more than $93,000, which allows funding of scholarships of $1,500 a year ($750 a semester) for three different students.
The San Angelo Area Foundation manages funds with due diligence for San Angelo and the San Angelo area. The Foundation’s community board, many of whom you know, combined with competent staff and donor participation, provides excellent checks and balances for the present and the future.
The 40th Reunion Committee encourages you to send your tax deductible donation to support this fund to the San Angelo Area Foundation, 2201 Sherwood Way, Suite 205, San Angelo, TX 76901.
Please make check payable to: San Angelo Area Foundation. Note on check “SACHS Class of 1965 Scholarship.” Click here for more information.
